Between the two of us, my husband Mike is the one with real talent. I really have none. I am not trying to invoke a pity party, I have things that I am good at, as we all do, just nothing that sets me apart, initiates the WOW factor, or makes me any money.

Everything you see on these pages that does make you say WOW, is Mike's work. I believe it is significant enough to showcase and that is what I have done. I have added in all of the elements that make up our life at home after realizing that we are truly a homeMADE couple. Everything you see on these pages are things we have made ourselves (I am riding Mike's coattails as I cannot take any credit for making the furniture and wood accessories though I very much enjoy using them). The recipes are both my own creations as well as contributions. In most cases, I tweak and change to make them my own. I did not write the books of course, but the reviews are mine.

I started this blog with no intention of it getting read by anyone, EVER, but more as a creative outlet. I have enjoyed perusing a great many professional and amateur blogs and have been, perhaps overly, inspired by some of the great work I have seen. I know I do not possess even half the talent of some of these great food, design, lifestyle bloggers but I do have ideas, no matter how half-baked they may be so I figured, sure, I could do this. I like to think of this as a primarily lifestyle blog comprised of many mini blogs encompassing some of life's most pertinent areas.

Since we are not rich, or anywhere even close, we do EVERYTHING around the house ourselves which sadly makes us a near minority in the area we live. It took Mike over a year to paint 3 sides of our 2300 square foot home and he is still not finished. Now, when I am giving someone directions to our house, I jokingly refer to it as the 3-sided yellow house. I will be sad to finally see that 4th side painted but luckily I may not live that long. Hahaha! Next on the list, Mike (very stupidly) promised our 12 year old that she would get her entire room redone before Halloween. This was after he promised her it would be done before summer was over. Some people never learn to stop promising what they cannot deliver. Intentions mean NOTHING to a 12 year old, hell they barely mean a thing to me and I am much older. Oh sure, DIY sounds glamorous on all those reality shows and the fancy blogs and that stupid LOWE's commercial but trust me, it is NOT.

So there you have it, a loosely defined introduction of a homemade life from soup to nuts and everything in between.
